Not sure whether I'm on the right topic but here goes;

My French uncle is 60 in September, I am going over with hand luggage only. I want to take something funny,British,not heavy,perhaps personalised, any ideas? MN good at this in my experience.

Thanks

Special bottle Whiskey, maybe 21 years old!

Another suggestion would be to send a gift that you have chosen on the internet to him but use a French company so that you just pay local postage.

I've done this for my cousin in Australia. I used an Aussie website and paid by credit card.

In this way you could send something heavy, such as a book, and wouldn't have to carry it at all. If you want it to be a surprise send it to another relative in France who will be there too.

Thanks pippop1 was beginning to think I'd posted in the wrong place. Good advice.
