I have glue.

I have glitter.

I have gold paint and white card.

I have jewels plastic gems.

I have cotton wool and marker pen (for the "ermine")

Where can I get a crown template from? Does such a thing exist?

School are having a "best crown" competition for the jubilee.

Not a problem, I can keep on looking for some more if you like?

pinkhebe · 26/05/2012 18:01

fruit gums as jewels fondly remembers her silver jubilee crown

You beat me to it. Spent last 24 hours making then, and used ALL of LikeItOrNot's links Grin

Also found one with the bits that cross over in the middle, like a real crown, but I can't find it.

ChippyMinton · 26/05/2012 18:04

this kind of thing

Badvoc · 26/05/2012 18:26

hmmm...he really wants something more...erm..manly IYSWIM? Not princessy.

I was thinking of looking at pics of the crown jewels but that would mean I would have to - gulp - try and copy the design freehand to make a template

DS2 made a simple one from foam, then glittered "King of Bling" across the front to justify all the sparkly bits.

This is so helpful! Thank you. My task today is to make crowns. Or buy them, even. Any shops have ready-made crowns for pre-schoolers?

Another question from a craft novice: where do I buy all the crafty equipment? I only know of The Works. Is there anywhere else I should be looking?

My really big challenge is the giant Jubilee decoration I have to make for the front gate village competition. But I think I need to start another thread about that.

ChippyMinton · 27/05/2012 07:51

The Works is good, or a supermarket. And your recycling box - use cereal boxes for the base, and cover with tinfoil, then decorate.

A stapler is best for holding things together, and a decent white craft glue for sticking on jewels etc.

FP Tesco had ready made ones last week. (waves...its me! Becaroooo!)

I am getting dh to print off a template later today

Hello Badvoc/Bec! Smile I ended up buying loads of stuff from The Works, and will have to figure out how to turn it into something marvellous before next weekend. Will probably use those templates!

I am hoping there is also enough kit there to use for the gate decoration if we're imaginative. (Let's hope the weather holds though, as I don't think soggy cardboard and sopping crepe paper is the look we should be aiming for.Hmm)

I will learn one day [sigh] I just forced bullied encouraged DS into designing one himself from a picture of the crown jewels, and this is exactly what I was looking for.

Oh well, I shall now be well equipped to cheat be very knowledgeable in helping him overcome challenges in the implementation (I promised he could use my sewing machine to make the lining and add "ermine" round the edge [eek])
