I wanted to make a dress like this for my DD. I have searched for patterns both free and ones to purchase and can't find one like this. Does anyone know where I could find one. [http://www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Girls-Dresses/33188/Girls-Funky-Print-Dress.html here] Thanks

that's a really easy dress to make your own pattern for.

Find a dress you've already got for the sizes of the armholes and neckline.

then, get a piece of paper (wallpaper is what my mum always used!) and draw an A-line shape the size you want it.
use the existing dress to mark the armholes and neckline.
draw where you want the pockets.

add seam allowances.

You can use bias binding for the neck and arms.

Make the dress from a really cheap bit of fabric to test it out, and then do it with the real fabric.

I have made my dd lots of those dresses this year.
I did as suggested and drew round an existing dress she had but made it slightly bigger.
Bias binding for arms and neck edge.
Very simple.
I found 1 and a half metres of fabric made two dresses.

Thanks nearly finished my practice run but DD being difficult about trying it on - always the way. May have to make slight adjustments for next one as it has come out like a smock.

I had to play around with the dress too, made some v necked ones too, which weren't as nice.
Keep practising!

Make sure the hemline is curved too.
