Dressmaking silk retailers

Hello crafty and able ladies

I'm thinking of getting a dress made (ie not by me) but first I need to find some fabric. It would have to be soft, drapey silk and I would really like it to be patterned.

I popped into our local dress fabric shop this morning, but they had only one printed silk, and it was garish. I was hoping to check out a range on line, but I'm not having much joy Googling. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I think I went to Broadwick Silks on Berwick Street in London for my wedding dress silk - and got waistcoat material there at the same time. Wonderful range and expert help at the time.

I wasn't expecting such a quick response. Thank you!

try ebay. also ebay for some of the other countries in europe can be better. I found some nice silk at exceptionally cheap prices at some of the markets in Rome. i bought meters of it!

Berwick street has a lot of high quality fabric shops but they aren't cheap.

Broadwick silks has two other shops in the same road: The Silk Society and The Berwick Street cloth shop.

Other goos shops on the street are:
