Please may I have recommendations for a book on digital SLRs for a real beginner, something that spells it out really clearly for someone who is very confused!
Thanks

I went on a one day course.

This was after owning the camera for 5 years Blush.

honestly, it was revelatory. I learnt how to use the manual settings so you don't need the flash. Learnt how to take different types of photos.

Really really good for basic instruction and far more useful than a book.

Could you do that?

I'd be interested in this too. Just got a new dslr and know some basics but could do with more. Local college maybe? Mine is useless!

I want the equivalent of Oxford Reading Tree, really, really basic, building to basic then up to Year 1 level! I did a course for a day but the level was too high for me. I want someone to spell out and clearly define what things like focal length are and how to judge what is needed and what difference it makes. Really Noddy stuff.
