I posted this in AIBU but thought I would put it here as it might be of interest to people who regularly use this board.
I am currently studying on a theatre post grad and for my final assessment I have to create a piece of theatre. The piece I have chosen to create has the theme of motherhood and it is essentially a celebration of motherhood but within this I also want to challenge the myth of the ideal mother.
One of the reasons I have chosen to create a piece about motherhood is because I have often felt frustrated because I have often felt shut out of the artistic world since I have had children yet I feel being a mother is an incredibly creative thing. So as part of the piece I wanted to offer mothers an opportunity to be creative and to shape the piece of work I am making.
I want to invite anyone who is interested to be able to participate by either submitting a decorated muslin cloth and/or by emailing a picture. The muslin could be decorated in anyway at all, you could draw/stick/glue with your children or write on it or make something yourself if you like craft type things. The picture could be of you making the cloth or with the cloth or something completely different that symbolises a celebration of motherhood to you. The cloths will be used within the piece and the pictures would be projected during the performance.
