DD needs another sodding dress

This needs to have a one panel top (as it's patterned) and knee length skirt

I was hoping to do the top & skirt in one piece and insert godets......but I don't think this will work

Help me please?

And item number 300370845034

KatyMac · 15/05/2012 22:05

I'm finding the main issue is the fabric; 4 way stretch is your friend as is georgette

Chiffon is horrid as is satin

The the join from leotard t o skirt is a bugger - Kwiksew do some nice leotard pattern and they fit like a dream, Burda is less helpful

Also pricess line is hard with 4 way stretch (or at least I find it hard)

Well done you should put pictures up when youve finished.
Have you seen any Jalie patterns. They do ice skating dresses and leotards with a nice variety of styles. Have you ever come across Elaine Davies - she's a dressmaker who started off making dance costumes for her daughter who is now grown up. She posts on the dance subgroup on the sewing forum (it's mostly ballet tutus but you get the ocasional Latin posting) She recommends the Nevtex leotard patterns as the basis for her dresses.

wow that Nevtex site is wild!! & the Jalie patterns look great too

I haven't come across that lady; I'm very much a beginner

But I have a latin & a balloom skirt made & awaiting hemming!!

I'm currently using this pattern 251020919162 to attempt to copy 110857071291 only using plain black.
I will stone it later if it's a sucess.

That it very pretty!

My full circle skirts have dropped over night & the hem is all over the place Sad I was kinda expecting it

Well done. That's some production line you've got going.

KatyMac · 18/05/2012 19:30

Doing the leotard now

OP posts:
KatyMac · 18/05/2012 23:27

2nd leotard finished & currently being jewelled

The first leotard is a disaster so needs remaking

Both skirts are now reversible

I went to bed late

OP posts:
KatyMac · 19/05/2012 11:14

2 skirts complete
2 leotards just need poppers on the bottom
1 dress needs an inside seam trimming (if it fits ok)

Drapes to do, then I collapse!!

Wow again. Do you have someone helping you or are you doing it single-handed? How often do you have to make so many items all at once?

KatyMac · 20/05/2012 17:41

I never have (or will have I hope) this many at once

I gave up on drapes

My friend overlocks the hems for me as I don't have that sort of machine

But she did great!!
