Slipped stitches

I'm trying to make some pillow cases out of an old maternity nightie but my sewing machine keeps slipping stitches. The fabric is a lightweight stretchy cotton? Anyone know how I can fix this?

check the tension

make sure you are using a suitable needle for ther weight of the cloth

or maybe machine needs a service.

Do I want more tension or less? The machine is only 6 months old so I don't think it needs servicing ... I'm a bit new to this sewing business, I thought a pillow case would be easy!

Have you got instruction book
It should have a trouble shooting which will tell how to check the tension.
