Looking for someone to make a rag rug for my dd - a commission, if you like!

My dd has fallen totally in love with a home-made rag rug she saw in her grandma's Woman's Weekly and I would love to be able to give it to her as she is a wonderful child who hardly ever asks for anything.

It is a small bedroom rug made from new fleece rags (I think) hooked on to a hessian backing. It is a very simple geometric design.

I was just wondering if I could hunt down the pattern (am not having much joy online and it was a fairly recent copy of Woman's Weekly but if needs be I can get Grandma to send it to me in the post), which has a complete list of instructions and materials, if any crafty Mumsnetter would be willing to make it for me? I will of course pay handsomely!

Please let me know if interested. Thanks all.

Bibbity my interest is piqued. Can you message me with more details? I.e, size etc. (I can't seem to PM you). I'll admit I've never done it but doesn't look too bad from what I've seen on the Internet. So you can go with someone more experienced if you wish

Bibbity - ragrugging is very simple - you just need the hessian, strips of fabric and a rag-rug hook (sometimes called a latch-hook)
Could you and DD make it together?

Oh that's a lovely idea PantryBoy but I just don't enjoy crafts or making things, or anything practical at all really! Blush

I would have to grit my teeth to do it. I would far rather outsource it and pay someone else who will get pleasure out of the work.

Fair enough!
I used to make rag rugs - I'd love to do it but realistically I don't have time. I hope you do find someone to help.

I do rag rug demontrations at Blists Hill Victorian Town near Ironbridge what i do is cut the rags into strips and use a broken sharpened dolly peg to make a hole in the hessian and push one end of the rag through one hole the make another hole push the other end of the rag through the hole the put next rag through the same hole as the last rags.

How old is your DD and would she have the patience to make it? As kids we used to do latch hook rug kits from about age 5. Mum showed us how then we would work on it on cold or rainy days till it was done.
