Crochet - joining rings

Can any fellow crochetters help?

I'm clearly doing something wrong, when I crochet in a round and then slip stitch to join, the join is never neat and looks different/lump/rubbish compared to the rest of the stitches - I've looked on youtube but the video I looked at seemed like I was doing it right but I'm clearly not - anyone got any tips? :)

bumping - I'd like to know too!

Sometimes I can get it spot on, other times, yup, I get lumps.

It's bloody hard tbh!

You need the absolute last stitch, go under 2 strands, yarn over, pull through all.

Try it with a heavier wool so you can see what you're doing, and make sure you've got your left hand (if you're right handed) tension right.

Test

as pidj says it's blinking hard so try with a chunkier wool and a bigger hook until you get the right loops. It will look right as soon as you get it.
