I just want to buy some cotton!

Please help me. I need to buy some more cotton to sew various things on my sewing machine. I am still a newish sewer, (sewist?!) and up until now have just used the stuff I already had.

Now I need some more white cotton, and wanted to buy some online, but have never felt so bamboozled by choice. I have no idea how big a reel I want (I need 'biggish'. Not those little narrow ones, but not something enormous that looks like something that belongs on a professional overlocker rather than my little machine) and I want something relatively decent quality, but mainly I just want someone to tell me, "This is what you need!" so I can just buy lots of reels of white cotton.

Can anyone help me with a link? Am v. grateful!

Do you actually want cotton thread?

I tend to use Gutermann Sew All thread (which is polyester) and I buy my white in 1000m reels like this (probably not the cheapest - was the first one that came up)

You're right. I am using the word 'cotton' to mean 'thread which goes on sewing machine! I like the term 'sew all'. That sounds like just what I need. That reel looks very wide, though. Does it fit on all sewing machines? [ignorant icon]

Oh, where are my manners?! THANK YOU, I should have said, first of all.

I would think it would fit on most normal machines. I have this machine and it fits fine on mine. Actually I'm so used to seeing it that the small reels look rather odd on it now!
