Hello, I am a really novice knitter, and was wondering if any of you kind peeps have a really easy pattern for a cardi for my 18 mth grandaughter.
I can do very simple garter, knit, purl, but beyond that get really stuck.
Any Ideas would be welcome.

Hi Raggle

Have a look on Ravelry... I'm currently knitting www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/garter-stitch-baby-kimono this, which is pretty easy.

Take a look at the patterns here Sirdar Easy Knits. Many of the designs are in simple stiches with basic shaping - the design is enhanced through the yarn used. This one Snowflake Chunky Jacket is great to make as there is no picking up stitches for borders or neckbands and is fastened with a press stud so no fiddly button holes. It is worked in chunky yarn so comes together quite quickly. I've knitted this for a number of little girl relatives and friends and is always well received. It looks lovely on. It looks particularly lovely knitted in red and white.

It's stocking stitch - one row knit and the next row purl. There is no rib. It really is fab to knit!

From memory you cast on using the thumb method then work a couple of rows before starting shaping by knitting 2 stitches together where indicated.

You need an oddment of DK wool to do the flower trim. The yarn requirements are quite reasonable (25g balls so it seems cheap!) and it is in stock at Kemps online woolshop.

This is also a nice pattern, knit in super chunky so it comes up quickly.

This is one of my favourites (I've not tried it yet but I will be) - but it has got a few fiddly bits.

I love this pattern cardi It's a lot simpler than it looks - I usually stick to making blankets as I'm terrible at sewing but I've made this cardigan lots of times.
