Amazon? Sometimes I find stuff on Amazon (the gels especially) although I tend to buy one everytime I go to the shop rather than bulk buy lots at a time. I am not sure about cake boards though.

Hi,

I use TheCraftCompany . They have a super saver delivery option

And I also use CakesCookiesandCraftshop as they have a bigger range of items (but their postage isn't as cheap.

stealthsquiggle · 18/04/2012 13:26

ebay for things like boards.

Either of the two RetiredDJ linked to for colours, cutters and heavy stuff like sugarpaste (not something I would have bought online until my nearest sugarcraft shop went out of business [sniff])

hi I use Design-a-Cake great shop! or Have your cake and eat it. Both okay P&P with a good range.
Mexican modeling paste is a 50/50 mix of normal sugarpaste and flower paste. Makes a a nice firm drying paste for figures, you can always add CMC tho that does the same!
Whats your project? L x

well im new to cake decorating but im able to bake so im making 3 birthday cakes for my dd's. our first dd will be 3 so i want to make two cakes. one for her birthday at home with the family and one to take to the childminders to share with her friends. our baby will be 1 in may so i want to make one for her. i wanted to use some alphabeth stencil things my sister gave me (think they came free with a cake decorating mag she got last week) but when i used them with sugarpaste they didnt work so did some research and apparently mexican paste would work. i basically want to put their names on the cakes.

I have always found ebay the cheapest place for Sugarflair colours, but will now have to go and investigate the links above.

And if I accidentally buy anything I'm going to send DH in this direction!

PoohBearsHole · 21/04/2012 21:11

RetiredDJ I so wish you had not linkied, I could get away with thinking amazon was pants for it so I didn't need it.........pants.

rockinhippy · 23/04/2012 12:27

Ditto for e-bay being the cheapest, but this is one of my favourites - I'm lucky to have a shop locally, along with other more basic suppliers - but I happily pay a bit extra for the more interesting bits & bobs from here :)

OhdearNigel · 23/04/2012 13:32

I get trade discount from my local sugarcraft shop. works out cheaper than buying on the internet and paying P&P. They also do me free stand hire and will open early/close late if I'm running late or have to pick something up early so sometimes it pays to use actual shops rather than the internet. Keeps money in the local economy as well and they advertise my business

cakeology · 28/08/2012 20:50

be careful with buying paste dyes and edibles off ebay.. we've had a few customers sent some dodgy things that weren't originals (i.e. they'd refilled the pastes with who knows what)
Cakeology is based in raynes park if youre close.
