substitute yarn

I've a crochet pattern which requires #0 lace yarn. I've looked up the yarn in the pattern which is an American yarn, it gives 18st x 24 rows (10cm) on 3.25mm needles.

Can anyone suggest a suitable yarn available in the UK that will give me a similar tension? I'd really like a cotton yarn. I'm not used to anything finer than DK and don't know where to start.

There are loads of lace weight yarns to choose from, which is very fine, but if you go into a good knitting shop they should be able to help you, not sure how many cotton lace yarns there are though, but best of luck

Ravelry is fab for suggesting alternative yarns if your pattern is on there.
