Dresses from wedding dress dupion - pattern suggestions and confidence required!

My two girls are six and nine months (ds three but prob not do relevant here!). I have a wedding dress with miles of dupion in the train which is unwearable because of sweat marks despite prompt cleaning and I'd like to make my girls dresses out of it to celebrate ten year anniversary. I'm not experienced at dressmaking but if you persuaded me it wouldnt end in tears I'd have a go. Or would a dressmaker be a better idea? Any pattern suggestions? Thanks!

I'm no expert but have have dupion silk to be a relatively easy material to sew with as it doesn't move about much! however as it sounds like a special fabric, I would get a dress maker, or perhaps see of their are any third year fashion students war your lOcal uni who would be willing to make up your patterns for a small fee...

Sorry for all the typos, fingers obviously too fat for iPhone!

Have a quick think about how devastated you'd be if it all went terribly wrong, and then make a muslin. Good luck!
