Has anyone done any great craft courses, ideally fabric/wool based?

My mum has just retired and loves going on craft courses, so I thought it might be a good present for her upcoming birthday. She has done machine embroidery, felting and knitting ones, so has anyone come across any that are really good that they'd recommend? She doesn't mind travelling to them and staying in her campervan, so the location doesn't matter too much.

I did a spinning course once, it was residential weekend course. The venue doesn't run it anymore but I'd suggest having a google as there are plenty of beginners courses about - and it's very relaxing :)

I don't know where she is but if she's prepared to really travel i did a spinning course with Sanday Spinners (Orkney Isles). Absolutely gorgeous! Check them out on Ravelry too
The most relaxing thing ever i'm still addicted now ..

Wow, a spinning course on Orkney sounds amazing. Not sure if my budget will stretch that far but will check them out.

There are sooooo many courses if you google that personal recommendation is the way forward if at all possible, so am hoping for a few to choose from!

Have a look at the WI courses at Denham, they seem to do all sorts. Everyone I know who has tried them has raved about them.

Obviously that should have been Denman, the craft courses are here: www.denman.org.uk/courses/craft

Weave your own coffin Shock - I like the notes about remembering you'll have to transport it home afterwards, imagine being picked up by the police with a coffin on the roof.

I did a fyberspates wool dyeing workshop which was great fun and came home with lots of inspiration, so easy to do in your own home.

I've also been on some one day courses to learn new skills in knitting/crochet.

Both have been around the somerset/bath/bristol area which is lovely for visiting.

Coldharbour Mill in Devon is lovely too and they often have courses.
