Easter egg decorations!

Just done Easter egg decorations this weekend for a school competition. Kids were very excited and played with their creations for many hours!

DS (7 y.old) has done a very cute sheep and an alien

Instead of dying the egg with green for the alien, we have covered the alien in blue tissue paper, and this made it easier to glue in eyes, ears and antenna.

DD (4 y.old) had done a bunny and a speckled egg

Other ideas we considered:

Easter bunny
Easter eggs with flowers
Easter baskets
Mushrooms
Loopy egg
Sticker stencils egg

So cute! I LOVE Easter as the decorations and crafty opportunities are so numerous! DD aged 7 has to make an egg for Friday and DD aged 4 needs a bonnet....I am planning on helping DD to make a traditional bonnet type thing...not too many chicks and eggs! Lot's of flowers and ribbons!

DDs egg is probably going to be quite "dark" knowing DD...she has a penchant for slime and monsters etc...so though I'd love to do a mushroom like in your link, I probably wont get a chance!

My DS (5 Year),his school is doing one now.He wanted Gruffalo in woods.I am in the middle of one.Will post the picture once done.I DS is very happy till now.

Glenshee, I came across your thread whilst searching for inspiration for egg decorating and think your eggs look great, quite perfect. The gruffalo is fab too stupidgirl. I can't get on to AwkwardMary's profile page though.

We had already done our eggs but I just wanted other ideas so I have saved this thread for next year!

What I would like to know is how do you dye the eggs to give them a nice, even colour? Do you dip them in paint - if so, what kind of paint? Or do you use food dye or fabric dye somehow? I would appreciate it if you could let me know.

My dd used some stickers she already had that are like the face parts of a Mr Potato Head, but shiny. So she made a Mr and Mrs Potato head and also an egg that she covered with egg and chick shaped easter confetti by pva-ing it on. They won her a choccie easter egg so she was chuffed.
