I know one of you lovely crafters will know the answer to this:
I've been thinking if getting a Sizzix machine for a while but am confused about what I need.
I want to be able to cut out felt flowers in various sizes like this:
www.sizzix.co.uk/product/657553/sizzix-framelits-die-set-7pk-flowers
but this die says use for single sheet cardstock and vellum etc.
What do I need to cut these shapes in felt or tweed or other fabric?

From my limited experience...

I started with a sidekick which takes sizzlits, felt didn't really cut too well, and some cotton fabrics would.

I upgraded to a big shot recently and the 'originals' dies can cut much thicker fabrics and leather, funky foam etc.

It's the depth of the die cutting blade that means what it cuts. You may find the framelits have a low cutting depth and may not do felt.

cuttingedgecrafts are where I buy my full price dies [if I want something particular that is] otherwise I buy odds and ends off eBay. Email cutting edge and ask, they use these dies so should be able to confirm if felt is able to be cut. They've been a star lots too many times for me.

I use a bigshot to cut fabric. You can cut most textiles but for dress or quilting weight stuff you need to back it with interfacing.
afaik all dies that are cutting blades I. E. mounted in foam (rather than the pressure ones which are v thin eg sizzlits) will do textiles.
Sizzix have regular sales on their website. Worth a browse!
