How much should I sell this for?

I bought some yarn to make a jumper, but wasn't keen on how it knitted up. I decided instead to make a crochet blanket - pics HERE

It is 100% wool, and measures 40" x 33", so is big enough for a cot or lap blanket. I want to sell it, but don't really know how much I'd be able to get. I know I will make a loss, and I'm ok with that as I did enjoy making it, and didn't do it to make money, but obviously I would like to minimise that loss.

So, how much do you think I could get for it? I'm interested in opinions from crafters and non-crafters alike - thank you.

That is lovely. If I saw that for sale I'd probably expect to pay £15-20 but wouldn't be surprised if it was more.

Could you give it away as a baby gift? It would be a shame to sell it for a loss to a stander when you've worked so hard.

Stranger!

Hmm, I just replied to this and broke Mumsnet. 2nd attempt:

Thanks Prima - I would do if I knew anyone that was expecting :)

No idea what to charge but I love it Smile

It's beautiful!! I would almost consider having another baby for it Wink Grin

That is really lovely! What yarn was it?

I reckon you could easily pay £20 for something like that. If it was 'marketed' right and the yarn was a good one maybe a bit more. It also depends on where you sell it too I think.

BigBoobiedBertha · 10/03/2012 17:48

Oh and I thought it was me that broke MN earlier. Glad it was somebody else's fault. Wink

Thank you for your nice comments :) The yarn was Sirdar Escape (DK), it cost £45 for the yarn but I was kinda thinking £20 would be about what I could get for it, just wanted to see what other people thought.

That is really nice. I'm not usually a fan of variegated yarn but I really like that! If it is 100% wool I'm sure you could ask more than £20. I assume it is a copyrighted pattern you used and not your own? If it is copyrighted you couldn't sell it on Etsy/Folksy where you are more likely to get what it is worth.

DonkeyTeapot · 10/03/2012 20:02

Thank you Purple No, it's my own pattern. I Just did hole-y pattern squares alternating with solid double crochet squares.

I do have an Etsy account, although I've never sold anything on there. I ought to weigh the blanket and see how much it would cost to post.

Just a cheeky bump as I'd like more opinions please.
