Any views on Big Shot?

There is a promotion on it at my local Hobbycraft (£50) and I am dittering. Should I, shan't I?

Anyone with one wants to share their love or hate of it?

Oh and while I am at it, any views on accuquilt?

I have a big shot, use it a lot - mainly for different alphabet font, but more recently I have bought a lot of Tim Holtz dies for it - am loving the manquin one at the moment!

Does it work well on fabric and felt *mynaughtylittlesister" or do you use it mainly for paper craft?

I only use mine for felt, fabric and leather, no paper cutting here. There are lots of different types of cutting dies. Originals and Bigz's cut the thickest felt and leather right down to paper. Whereas the Sizzlits and Framelits will only cut thin felt, fabric (just about) and papers. I use mine lots and have bought 2 more dies this week via ebay.

Cutting Edge Crafts have good stock of Big Shot, although I can't search their site properly. Free postage too and quick.

Quite a few of the things I make (to sell) are using the Big Shot here.

Any more Q's just ask away.

Accuquilt seems v. expensive, but has lot of (also expensive) quilting dies. Don't know much else about it.

Isit the manual one or the electric one? I have both. Have never tried fabric though, but i will now...

Ooh, I was just going to do a thread about Bigshots. I got mine for Christmas and I love it. I use it for paper so far but planning to use it for felt too. I've got the multipurpose platform so you can use dies from other machines. There's tons of choice on ebay and it's all very cheap.

Sew- any tips on which alphabet set to get? I'm a bit lost. Sorry for hi-jack, OP.

I have the rat-a-tat set which I use every now and then, I think I paid about £15 on eBay a few years ago.

My MiL loves it and she cuts in felt and fabric, but she tends to choose the larger dies as it's easier to sew around with the machine.

She took it to her quilting group the other week for them to admire and she's cut out a lot of shapes for them.

I started out with a side kick and decided to upgrade. Mine was second hand of eBay with a handful of dies for £45.

Re: Alphabet. I've got Boys Will Be Boys Alphabet set. It's a thin set of dies, but can (just) cut felt and fabric. Chunky enough not to fall apart.

oohhh - I asked a question about Big shots the other week... I think you've just made my mind up for me....I'll be in Hobbycraft tomorrow morning now if they are on offer!
