Sizzix Dies sent via swap - favourites

I have had a right old root around now. I have decided which dies I want to buy to suit my style;

I can honestly say that the traditional bookplates rock for me. They are gorgeous. I can't wait to use them. One Q though. How do you all put the backing on, I can't decide how to do it. They are definitely my favourites. If anyone wants to own up to doing the silver ones. Can I have some more?

Birthday cake - bloody marvellous. I know it's sad getting excited but they really are ingenious. Love them.

Train - Not as impressed as I wanted to be. Being able to drive a train and all that. I think I would have to jazz it up somewhat. Will still buy.

Gifts - Absolutely wicked. They will really make a birthday card. In any colour, for a quick make you could put 2 on a card and still get money for it. Still thinking about turning upside down and doing wedding cake.

Little car - I got a little car that was stuck and everything (thank you). It was wicked & I will use it and buy.

Champagne Flutes - everyone should have them.

Tags - Scallop tags, brilliant. Round ended ones, lovely, wouldn't buy as I can make from a glass & a ruler placed on a cutting mat.

Flowers - are always welcome, some beautiful ones.

Dare I go on. Well, I am going to. I moaned a bit at the start as it felt like I was cutting sizzix for a living. I feel so bad now.

BUT the funky fibres were an inspiration to me. I have not seen anything like them. Haven't looked before either but they are gorgeous. Thank you so much for everyone who sent them. Will definitely be buying them.

I do hope that you don't think I am being ungrateful, because I am not, this has really bought home which dies I want and which dies I don't which will save all of us money.

I keep re reading my post and it sounds like I am being pedantic. With the price of dies it's not meant like that. The whole swap was about being able to find out what dies you like for your style. Sorry to waffle.

Could we all make a card from the swap and show it. AQ we would need you for this. I am willing.

US site.
Postage is the equivelent of 4 large dies for $10.
1 large red = 2 medium yellow or 4 small green, so you can mix up your order.

Large = approx $11 = £6.20
Medium = approx $9 = £5.07
Small = approx $8 = £4.51

P&P $10 = £5.63

If you bought 4 large dies inc P&P they work out to roughly £7.60 each.

They also have a large stock of discontinued lines.

I had a good look through yesterday as well, and colour co-ordinated all of the fibres. I am really pleased with those because when you buy a pack you often get just one colour variation so it's lovely to have so many colour feom the start.

I am also pleased with the flower dies, I used mine up last week. My favourite is the one you get 2 flowers with, one on the inside and and outline one. Does anyone know which die that is, I have tried looking on the sizzix site- I think it might be a sizzlet one.

I am also pleased with the car dies, it is probably not worth personally buying it but useful to have a few in stock IYSWIM.

I used some fibres and dies last night- first time I made cards in ages.

And when DH saw all the bits yesterday he commented on how useful this mumsnet card group was- sharing bits, tips and challenges- he thinks we have something that he wishes a lot of people at his work should have. Isn't he soppy- but it's true!

UCM · 29/01/2006 13:47

Does anyone want to swap the baby pram big red die with another. I don't think I will use it. I have only used it to cut the dies for the swap.

OP posts:
Dingle · 29/01/2006 14:04

Pootle, hopefully once the swap list is complete it will be easier to get a few one off dies cut, rather than buy those dies that you would like to try but know you wouldn't have use of very often.

If you mean the large car front die, I would always be more than happy to cut some for you when ever you need them.

I think the flowers you mean are the flower charms code 38-1050.

pootlepod · 29/01/2006 14:10

thank you- I can see it now!

jenk1 · 29/01/2006 14:33
