What sewing machine?

I have decided I want a sewing machine for school costumes; repairs and the odd bit of crafting, ie cushions, bags etc. I have some very basic but very, very rusty skills so it needs to be easy to use.

A quick search has thrown up Janome as a possible make but is this John Lewis ? Where else could/ should I look? TIA
