Ideas for Crafty party for 6 year old

So, I'm really rubbish at organising stuff, skint, and DD's 6th birthday is next Saturday. Too late for the usual lazy busy mum's options. I thought about buying some cheap t-shirts and fabric pens and getting half a dozen kids round for a t-shirt painting party.

Is this genius or just really rubbish? Grin Anyone got any other cheap and easy to arrange ideas? Thanks!

Sounds good. You need layers of newspaper inside each t shirt so the pens don't go through to the back.

Pizza making can also work.

Sounds great or... plastic beads and stretchy beading thread, all cheap on ebay and it'll come in time if you order this weekend (don't order from Hong Kong Grin) it should come in time. Girls love making bracelets - the more lurid and tacky the beads the better!

Thought of some sort of cooking one, but kitchen is tiddly, and DD hates pizza, so that's a no-go! The beads thing is a definite option though. I was trying to think of things they could make and then take home with them instead of good bags - kill two birds with one stone.

Did this for dd's 7th birthday and got them to stick on the acrylic jewels

They all loved doing them and the mum's were impressed!

Could decorate mugs too? Take them home with piece of cake, party bag solution too

Decorating cakes or biscuits always goes down well. For dd 6th birthday they decorated cakes and put them in fancy paper bags they had also decorated with stickers - nice and easy and virtually no mess! Smile

I was just on ebay looking at memory wire bracelets. We (the ptfa) are doing these with the kids for special persons day. You only need to add a few nice beads and bend both ends over, so they should be easy to do.

I love the T shirt idea (but then I do kids jewellery parties so like the idea of something different!) If you do beads, if you can get hold of a piece of felt for each child it stops all the beads rolling off the table...
