Wool for knitting hair for a doll

I've adapted a couple of Jean Greenhowe patterns to knit a 'boy' doll for DS1, but the hair looks a bit crap as it's just garter stitch with DK. The girl pattern has a hat/bunches, etc on top so less 'helmet' like!

DS1 has refused to let me make a hat Hmm but another friend has a similar doll with funky spiky hair and I wondered where I could get wool like this?

DS2 has asked for the same doll (which DS1 has insisted I knit in different colours Grin!) so I will get plenty of use out of the wool!

TIA Smile.

Do you have a photo of the effect you are looking for?

What colour?

You probably need an eyelash yarn like Sirdar Funky Fur. They used to do one called Foxy but I think that's discontinued.

When knitted up it's often used for crimes against fashion like this but it does come in a range of colours and is actually pretty good for toys. You just knit normally and the eyelash bits fluff out like magic. So for your doll hair just knit a little circle/ "hat" and sew it on.

Peas, no I don't, but could get one Blush!

fossil, think that could be it! Grin at the crimes against fashion - lovely!! Yes, if can get in yellowish (both boys are blonde) then could have the right effect. Thank you Smile.
