The Twelve Knits of Christmas by Fional Goble

Does anyone know if any wool suppliers do a kit of required yarns for this project?

I need 31 different colours in wool or wool blend and some of these only require very small amounts for the finishing touches. Seems a waste to buy complete balls of wool when all I need is enough for eyes, mouths etc...

What type of wool does the project require? Could you substitute it for embroidery thread? There is thread on here about crochet butterflies using anchor embroidery thread instead of wool so maybe that could be used for this.

DK wool or wool blend is what is recommended but the suggestion of embroidery thread might be an idea for finishing faces. I definitely need the wool to knit the beaks and some other items

I had the same problem; got the book out of the library and enjoyed reading it but ended up making nothing

I've seen patterns suggest using tapestry yarn for small amounts of decoration. I don't know how it works out cost wise though. It would be a bit more "woolly" than embroidery thread.

that's another good idea, thanks. I'll buy the wool that's required in large quantities first and see where it progresses from there.
