Want some scrapbook stuff for my birthday - what to get?

It is my birthday in 5 weeks. I have asked my PILs and also DH's grandad to get me some stuff to start scrapbooking with.

My first project is to do a scrapbook of DD;s first year.

I did by a friend a scrapbook album, which I really liked - so could start with that. And kind of know some of the stuff I need to make the page slook pretty, etc.

But anything else I need?
Do I need a special type of glue?
Do the scrapbooks come with paper/card for each page inside it, or do I need to get them seperately?

And what are your favourite stores, mainly online would be good I think?

And any favourite items you have?

Oh and whilst being here and being a bit cheeky - any ideas for pages would be fab

Thank you!

acid free glue if you want it to last, go onto canny crafts shop or the modern scrapbooking shop for ideas and designs. Do try to stick to acid free- important really- remember that includes pens etc, but easy to find in scrapper shops. EBay also handy for that sort of thing.

Best shops:
canny crafts
modern scrapbooking
cotswold keepsakes
craftsulove

there's a post a few days ago re favourite craft shops, most of them specialise in scrapping as much as cards: I'm just too arse lazy today to redo all the links! (sorry, been scraping at a Psychologye ssay all day and getting nowhere).

HTH

(canny crafts has a gallery btw with loads of ideas and a forum too that is good)

Thanks - I promise I will do a search when compiling some lists of places for MIL to select from.

So ACID FREE - will keep reminding myself of that!

the scrapbook you bought me was fab.

Hulababy · 11/01/2006 20:33

Glad you liked it Katz. I loved the look of it. But really no idea if it was a GOOD scrapbook IYSWIM. I am very tempted to get that one for myself for this project. I chose it because I liked it afterall.

ebay is quite a good place to start as is qvc

Hulababy · 11/01/2006 20:37

Not sure MIL could cope with ebay. Just simple online shops are hard enough I suspect. LOL! However I will start looking at ebay to buy myself stuff

HOTP - (hot off the press)is a good range of papers

this ones 8 x 8 so a bit smaller than the one you got me but a nice to size to start with.

My mum has bought me a scrapbooking magazine subscription, this might be a nice idea for someone as a birthday present. You can have a look at mine to see if you think you'd like it, its full of lovely layout ideas
