I finally got my pinterest account two weeks after asking for it!!

I'm hooked but I need people to follow. How do you get new people to follow?
Apart from asking

I'm still getting used to it but I know it's going to consume my life!!

If anyone has any hints and tips for using it I'd be most grateful

I would say search for things you like and see where it leads!

I do have a question, I got my invite after 15 minutes but a friend has waited weeks. I don't get how they work it out!

I have no idea either, I gave up on it then it came today.

It's seems like an odd system if you got yours immediately.

If I'd have got mine as soon as I requested it I'd have lost even more time to it so probably best I didn't!!

I had the same problem with the invite, they didn't ever accept my normal e-mail address, yet accepted my business one almost instantly - think they have some weird filtering system, if your e-mail name fits you get in

& to answer your question, ditto as above & if you find anyone who has boards with lots of things that you love, same taste as you & look active in pinning - you can click to follow a particular board, or all the boards of that person & follow them to make it easy to keep an eye out for any more goodies they post

I had the same thing as rockinchick. I tried 4 or 5 times with my personal Hotmail account and got nothing and then tried my business account and got accepted immediately. I think there is an element of email snobbery going on!

I have followed you craftyknickers, just to get your network started, so to speak. However, I am also finding the follower/following/no. of pins/no. of likes are not updating very quickly. I am stuck on 333 pins even though I keep adding them. Weird. I am wondering how reliable the statitics actually are!

I don't think the numbers of followers etc is working properly either - my follower number hasn't gone up for a while, yet I've had new followers - IYSWIM - also on the ones I follow - which isn't many - the number at the top is wrong

that said I still think the site has its knickers in a twist a bit, I still get the error 404 & 502 things coming up, 1 board of mine I can't look at unless I'm adding to it

so yes, in short its not all working properly still :(

That said, perhaps I need to spend less time on it, too addictive & I think I'm getting to precious about my boards - LOL -

I've had someone copy one of my boards, even down to pinching the title - & I'm still not sure whether to be flattered or P'd off - maybe I need t o get a life - LOL

weirdly the one they accepted from me WAS hotmail - they ignored our IP e-mail address - though the IP one has "rockin" in it, the hotmail one probably sounds a bit more "refined" - snobs they are

I woke up to lots of emails notifying me of new followers, now I can't come off it as there are so many nice things on there.

I don't know if I'll ever have the time to actually make anything at this rate

I'm glad it's not just me with the email issue, although I still don't understand because my email address is just my name so not reason to get snobby about it unless they don't like my name?!

great thread. i too am new to pinterest. if im being stupid please say so but does it matter if anyone is following me? plus can some kind person please tell me how do i pin something i like from say a site like monsoon or zara. ive seen some childrens clothes l like but have no idea how to pin them.

Hi Betty -

if you go to Pinterest - look to the right of the screen near your name - you'll see "add" - click in this & add pin - it should add a "pin it" button to your bookmarks bar - from then onwards any image you see anywhere & want to add to your boards - just click "pin it" - you'll get a list of images, or maybe just the one

hover over the centre of the image you want & it will show & "pin this" button - click - click on the board title scroll bar & scroll down to the board you wan to add to - write something in the box that appears & click again - its now on your Pinterest board :)

& no it doesn't matter if people are following you - unless you know them, it just means they like your boards & want to keep an eye on what you upload, incase you find anything else they can pinch for there own boards

they can be good though - as if they like the things yo are pinning, chances are you'll like things they pin too & might find something to add by noseying on their boards :)
