Mollie Makes magazine - good Christmas present, or not?

I stumbled across the Mollie Makes magazine on a couple of blogs. It looks like a subscription would make a good Christmas present for crafty friend, and SIL and me.

However, it costs a lot bit more than I would normally spend on any of them, so I wanted to poll crafty MN opinions on value for money - and also if anyone knows what, physically, you get with a gift subscription - will I get anything that I can wrap up?

I was going to detail what friend and SIL are into craftwise but I don't want them to spot themselves IYSWIM....

I have just tried out Handmade Living and I'm not overly impressed with it. There were proof reading errors in it for a start and I found it less interesting than MollieMakes.

i think I am veering towards Mollie Makes for friend and something else entirely for SIL - friend is more likely to take it in the spirit in which it is given IYSWIM.

I prefer Sew and Handmade Living over Mollie Makes and Sew Hip. I find I buy those every month but not Mollie Makes and Sew Hip - I buy those every couple of months because I have a bad magazine habit.

There is more practical stuff in Sew than in Sew Hip imo. There are too many toys in Sew Hip for my taste. I would never make them. Mollie Makes is very beautiful to look at but there isn't a lot of substance.

I also like Craft Seller even though I am not. It has nice projects and I can dream of making a living out of a hobby. Xmas Blush

IMO it isn't better, taytotayto. Mollie Makes is a classy looking magazine, nice paper, arty photos, cute in a yummy mummy sort of way - that isn't a bad thing by the way, just a way of describing how it feels to me). I can see the appeal even if I don't really like the content as much as some other magazines. Sew Hip isn't so 'posh' plus I don't like the sewing in there as much as Sew anyway. I think (and this is only my opinion mind you) that what you have is the better magazine. Xmas Grin

I suppose the word I am looking for is aspirational. MM is more aspirational than SH, it is selling a lifestyle as well as ideas of how to make stuff!
