Help - sewing machine query

am two thirds of the way though my first project and now the thread keeps coming out of the needle,why?

Tension needs adjusting? Loosen it off a notch and sew some test scraps of fabric to see if that helps.

Errrrr... Are you using the right size needle for the fabric?

Are you pulling the thread through enough before starting?

Are you using bad quality thread? I do that sometimes and the thread just keeps snapping, I have learnt my lesson and buy better quality thread now...

Size of needle Confused

The thread wasn't snapping and I thought I'd pulledenough through.....

Ditto on the tension &/or needle size/type - basically fine fabrics need the smaller size needles, heavier fabrics the larger - stronger - size - if you look at your needle packet you probable have an assortment of sizes

Also make sure you are using the correct TYPE of needle for the fabric - jersey/stretch fabrics need a "ball point" needle - woven fabrics normal ones

Thanks, have managed to finsh the doorstop, only had two sides left to do, but really need to look into how to use it properly.
