How do you use a sewing machine?!

I thought I'd figured it out but apparently not! I can thread the damn thing but my sewing seems bobbly or goes the wrong way and gets jammed under the needle. Can anyone give me a dummies version of using it please?!!

Have you put the bobbin of thread under the needle in the right way? If it revolves the wrong way, that can cause problems like this. On my machine it goes in the opposite way to what you would think.
