Anyone made a cot bumper?

I'm going to knock one up quickly but I'm thinking that if I sew the batting into the outer cotton material the seams will come up all chunky. So I'm thinking I'll sew the seams, then cut the batting to exactly the right size and quilt it in.

Anyone had experience of doing one and how did you do it?

I have made a couple and sew all 3 layers together at the edge and they've never been very chunky.

ok thanks. did you quilt them after too?

I think I did a line of stitching about 1" in from the edge around the outside. Then a row of stitching from top to bottom at the "folds" so that it was divided into 3 bits (I hope you know what I mean!)

yes, thanks dizzyday07. i've just started today and found that my machine does a nice fake hand-stitch. hope to finish by the weekend.

thanks very much.
