Any inspirational ideas for labels for my home made gifts?

Having been inspired on here to join Ravelry and also picked up some knitting skills and suggestions on where to buy wool I have a craft hobby (thankyou) :).

As a result of this I have have now knitted a few gifts and plan to do some more which I am stock-piling for upcoming birthdays and then Christmas.

I now need a bit of inspiration on suitable labels for the finishing touch (and also to provide info on wool content and washing instructions etc). Any thoughts of suggestions ?

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

well you can order labels that you can sew into the things you make, or you could make your own, with t-shirt transfer paper, there is a tutorial here.

Could you attach a nice (card) label with pretty ribbon and one of those teeny gold safety pins? You could do the details on computer, maybe even find a nice template somewhere? Or you could handwrite them, rubber stamp some kind of logo?

You could also have name-tapes made up saying "Knitted by calrabbit" or similar, then go with sparklyrainbow's idea.

have a look at flickr - type in handmade gift tags, kraft tags that kind of thing and you'll find oodles of gorgeous (and some not so nice) gift tags. i'd love to be crafty that way but sadly I'm not, but I do spend way too much timeon flickr ogling other peoples creations.

I made a label with a magnet on the back for a knitted gift, so that the washing instructions could be kept on the fridge for future reference, as they won't be sewn into the item. Most craft shops sell either squares or a roll of magnets, which are soft enough to be cut to size
