Painted pebbles? - get some largish pebbles /stones and paint them in whatever suits the occasions and place on the table around jar lanterns (homemade - jam jars with tea lights???

Or get pretty bowls and float flower petals in them around tea lights?

A straight row of jam jar lanterns down the centre of table looks good.

Our florists did us very cheap flower arrangements for ds's naming day. She used cheapy glasses from ikea, with ribbon tied round, with cheap flowers in them.

She charged us £5 per arrangement, so I guess you must be able to do them for cheaper than that, once you've deducted the cost of her time, iysim.

I held Easter lunch for friends and family and used tea pots and vintage jug's filled with wild flowers as well as some jam jars with tea lights and decorated with ribbon (the more varied in style the better).
