Would it be a crazy idea to re-upholster a sofa in jersey fabric?

Just an idea, as I am going to re-upholster my sofa soon, yesterday I thought ticking fabric, now I'm thinking jersey fabric?

Crazy?

Thought stretchy might be good for removable covers....

But yes, probably not hard wearing enough, but do sofas get more wear than t shirts?

I reckon it would wear out too quickly - I can wear through a t-shirt in a year or less.

Also, ticking is amazing and I love it. Use it, woman!

I wouldn't recommend it either - it will go baggy, clicked & pilled in no time, all it would take is a few bums & kids climbing around on it, so YES will definitely get more wear & tear than a T-Shirt -

if you must use it, you will need to back it with an iron on woven fusible, but personally I would stick to something woven & harder wearing such as cord, denim etc etc

All it would need would be for someone's belt buckle or similar to snag it and it would be ruined. Not hard wearing enough by a mile. There is a reason why upholstry fabric is thick!

Ok, thanks for talking sense into me!

Ticking it is....

Do be careful with ticking, it also will wear quite quickly as it is a soft cotton.
