Simple walking sock knitting pattern?

Does anyone have a relatively simple knitting pattern for an adult walking sock? My Gran wants to knit something else for my son, and he now has enough jumpers and hats, gloves etc for the time being, but I would love him to have a Christmas stocking knitted by her. Nothing fancy, just a plain walking sock and then I can add felted designs.

An actual sock might be a bit small. Why not a proper stocking?

Knitting Pattern Central has links to a lot of stocking patterns. Ravelry would have some too.

Ravelry is certainly the place to go... brilliant selection of free patterns.

I have this one - in DK

and this one in chunky

Crofter is lovely wool - its multi coloured and forms a fairisle type of pattern as you knit. But I made the chunky ones in plain wool. It is a very easy pattern - its on two needles, not knitting in the round.

If you PM me I'll happily photocopy the patterns and send them to you Smile
