She likes gardening. I cannot tihnk of anything.

Have already made her all my usual presents, she doesn't need another purse, pouch, or bag!

Gardener's apron

Padded kneeler

Do you want it to be gardening related?

DoodleAlley · 30/03/2011 18:08

Can you make a little set of plant pots, soil and herb seeds? Sometimes you can get plant pots you can paint?

I've got a book with a pattern for a bag you wear around your waste to carry gardening tools there might be something on the Internet.

Debbie bliss and ravelry both have covers to knit to go over jars or glass candle holders. Does she like to sit out by candlelight and enjoy the garden she's made?

I've knit my mum a bookmark in a lace pattern for mothers day. Not fancy but she loves to read. I'm also knitting a cushion front which I'll then attach to a simple shop bought cushion cover.

Garden Tool Belt

With or without the freaky looking cat-beast.

A cloth, set of napkins and coasters for outdoor dining?

Oh thank you for the lovely suggesitonS! It doesn't have ot be gardening related but I tohught she might like that!

I cannot knit but I can sew. Actually this has sparked my brain into action, maybe I'll make her a sun hat!

I like the gardening tool belt, without the cat! Might make that too. Looks very easy.

I made mine a hanging decoration for her kitchen - the sort of thing you see in little arty crafty nick nack shops. It's basically a small padded fabric heart then a padded fabric bird then another larger heart which I've strung on to cord interspersed with beads - I did it all in yellow/cream and brown to match her kitchen and she was delighted with it (we celebrated early as she's going to be away on Sunday) even though it was a bit wonky in places! Could you do something similar on a gardening theme? Maybe flowers and bird instead of hearts or a watering can or something?

Very welcome. Grin

That's sorted my MIL's bday too. Result.

overmydeadbody · 31/03/2011 15:08

Thank you missread for your suggestion, I have already made her some hanging hearts for her kitchen and I don't tihnk she's really into them, although she keeps them hanging there because she is sentimental and I made them lol.

I have decided that I will get my drawing pencils out and draw her an orchid, her favourite plant, and frame it using one of the frames from my stash that I buy from charity shops. Now I just need to make sure I finish it in time...(haven't even started it...)
