hello, you all helped me before when i had sewing machine troubles, so am back to ask another question

my bottom thread is not being sewn properly.

i was taking up some curtains and it looked lovely.
til i saw the other side! lol
it's just like the underneath thread is loose and just in a long line rather than being taken up properly.

what have i done wrong? and how do i fix it?

Sounds like tension needs adjusting - I'm no expert but I just follow the instructions in the manual for my (ancient) machine. There should be a tension dial somewhere?

ok, its def a tension problem. Do you have two dials or one?

I only have one dial on my machine for the tension, numbered 9-1. 1 makes it more loose on the bottom and 9 makes it more taught. Mine normally sits between 5-4 and is ok.

If I use thick thread mine turns out like yours..so I end up using regular gutterman(sp)

You could also try adjusting the stitch length..mine only goes up to 4. But if its thick fabric a longer stitch can work better.

Have a go with that. I also didn't have a manual for my ancient brother, but spoke to a bth online dealer who emailed me a pdf for free! Woooo. Worth a try.
