Of course I could always be sensible and let someone else buy it...but it is gorgeous and in short supply so it's got to be miiine alll miiiiiiiiiine! Grin

Don't need curtains.

Don't need cushions.

Anything else useful you can think of? It's about 2 metres long.

TIA

hmm

bench? eg for the foot of a bed? that would use about 2 meters if only the top was upholstered

or ottoman to use as a coffee table? again, 2m would be about right

describe
patterned? colour? cotton linen silk?

what room would it work in?

ItsJustAName · 27/02/2011 18:07

Some kind of handbag?

CointreauVersial · 27/02/2011 18:10

If it's really lovely, just stretch it over a canvas frame and hang it on the wall.

eddiemccready · 27/02/2011 18:35

Canvas storage tubs? Lots of tutorials online on how to make these, google.

Following on from CointreauVersial's advice, nail the fabric on to a large canvas, then place strips of gorgeous ribbon in a diagonal criss-cross pattern, sew pretty buttons where ribbons meet and voila, you have a french memo board!! I know my explanation is pants but here's a tutorial: filosofiayflores.blogspot.com/2007/01/french-memo-board-tutorial.html

SpeedyGonzalez · 27/02/2011 20:02

Ooh, I love the idea of using it as art! Am inspired...thanks coIntreau! And GoodOnes, your explanation was super-clear!

Thanks all!

I was thinking of this kind of thing

Can you show us the gorgeous fabric?

CointreauVersial · 27/02/2011 22:00

Or instead of a memo board make a pin-board. You can buy a piece of board from places like Champion timber (it's like a soft MDF, I can't remember what it's called exactly), then stretch the fabric over, stapling on the back.

For a nicer slightly padded effect include a layer of interlining behind the fabric.

I did one for the study in a nice green fabric which matches the room, and DD1 has one in fake leopardskin (!) above her bed for all her works of art.

AllTheGoodOnesAreTaken · 27/02/2011 22:21

Is the soft mdf thingy called sundeala?

SpeedyGonzalez · 27/02/2011 23:43

le fabric

Not to everyone's taste, I'm sure, but I love it. I also love the fact that I can get it for LOADS less through a contact - the DG prices are eye-wateringly high!

Gorgeous! I like that.

SpeedyGonzalez · 28/02/2011 00:03

Aww thanks! And thanks so much for your inspiration. It will be nice to have one of my pics up instead of just DH's!
