Padded Noticeboard

If you were going to make or have made one of these, what tutorial did you use? Or shall I make it up?
I'm thinking ply wood?
Some kind of padding? Which kind?
Fabric, ribbons and drawing pins to tack the ribbons in?
Would have to use craft glue or see how much a staple gun would be. Doing this on a budget you see.

Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated :)

I bought a cheapie cork board as the base - from Tesco.

Get some wadding, doubled over. (avail @ most upholstry fabric shops). Then staple fabric over - start on one side in the centre, then pull taut and do the opposite side centre (clooth at the back BTW). Industrial stapler works best. Repeat with the opposing sides, so you have tacked/stapled the centres of all the sides. Now start stapling each side, rememeber to pull fabric taut.

Once finished, put ribbon over in xxx pattern, stapling on the back. Put board pins on the cross over (the centre of the X) et voila! Very easy to do.

Just be careful to leave apsce for the hangers.

I did very similar to Hatti, except I used canvases from Hobbycraft )like this) as they were on offer and (fairly) cheap. Covered with a double layer of wadding, stapled fabric and ribbons in place.

I think the staple gun is pretty much essential as it allows you to pull the fabric really taut and get a good finish.

Fantastic! Thank you both.
Hatti your instructions are just what I needed. Just need to get the supplies.
:)
Thanks again!

Hatti does it exactly how I would.

Definately start with a cheap noticeboard as your base, you might even find one in a charity shop for pennies if you're lucky.

When you make this, can you put photos on your profile?

I will indeed OVMDB :)
Off to town next week for supplies.

Once my second draught excluder is done I will also post a photo.
Getting a sewing machine asap on loan. I am very excited Grin

Can anyone suggest a cheap staple gun?
