Hi,

I want to learn to machine sew and was wondering if any of you know of a really good book for absolute beginners? I mean something like Delia's equivalent of How to Cook but for machine sewing. There must be something out there!

I have Lotta Jansdotter's Simple Sewing which seems straightforward. I'm going on a day course next month to learn how to use my machine so I haven't actually done anything yet (coward, moi?)...but the book came recommended for complete beginners.

I also have Sewing for Dummies which really strips it back to basics and assumes you know nothing.

Both are cheap on Amazon.

Whereabouts are you Mosaica? A friend of mine is running sewing classes in North London, and also one-to-one classes on how to use a sewing machine.

I've got this book which is really good. I'm a novice and have learnt a lot from it.
