sewing machine help

I have a Janome sewing machine that has been getting some pretty intensive use recently. However it has started playing up and skipping stitches, by that I mean that occasionally I'll get a really long stitch in amongst the normal ones. It's also refusing to sewing anything like fleece. When I try to sew the thin fleece it just doesn't pull through the bobbin thread properly to form a stitch. I've tried other stitch settings and rethreading the bobbin and top thread, changing the top tension and I've recently oiled it. It's fine with cottons and even suede.
Does anyone have any suggestions or am I going to have to give in and take it to the repair man - I don't think I can bear to be without it at the moment though!

yes i have had the same dilema a few times, my only solution was to have it serviced otherwise could sew really slowly without probs.

Have you changed needle? Think fleece blunts needles quite quickly.
