Want to treat my mum - crafty courses in peterborough area

Hi, my mum is really into making things, as am I, she has been doing it for years self taught. She does sewing, knitting, card making etc, I would like for xmas to pay for an adult ed course for her, something new, or maybe something to improve her skills, but no timings/courses on offer suit her at the local adult ed, she doesn't drive, and my dad is a selfish twat, so probably wouldn't take her anywhere on a weekly basis - had thought that I might be able to head up there, take her for a weekend craft course, somewhere we can both stay overnight - has anyone any thoughts?

She is in peterborough, I am in maidstone - at a stretch I could get her to get the train to london, not sure she would on her own though. somewhere nice, countryside, would be lovely, added advantage I would get my first weekend away in a very long time (7 month DD!) and she would get a break from my dad!

I'm not sure this is exactly what you're looking for, but Coleman Stationers do regular half day workshops in Rushden, and sometimes elsewhere. Also, there's a newish Hobby Craft in Peterborough: might they know about potentially interesting local events?

Thanks - didn't know about the hobbycraft, will give them a call. Main problem is I never lived up there with them, so don't know the area or the city - no idea about buses, transport to courses that type of thing.
I know most of those weekend typ courses tend to be lovely places like cornwall, not so much lincolnshire/cambridgeshire!

Peterborough has trains across to Oakham and Stamford, if that's any help, and I think also across to Norwich. Hope that helps expand your search radius!
