Find me a lovely fabric to make mei tai

Can anyone help me find some lovely fabric for the outside of my mei tai carrier that I rather optistically intend to make. The straps will be black canvas.

I was thinking a damask or similar but open to options. Not too expensive. Doesn't have to be thick.

You need to go into a local fabric shop sans children and have a lovely time browsing and feeling the fabrics

I'm never sans children unfortunately but I can be sans toddler which is easier.
