I have a dress like this which is one of my favourite warm winter dresses.

I have just realised I cannot breastfeed 9 week old DS in it, and want to somewhow adapt it for feeding.

I am thinking a zip at the front? Would that work? Or is there a better way to do it? Its fleecy viscose material so I am not sure about buttonholes.

TIA.

I think you will spoil the dress if you put buttons or a zip at the front. You will need to make some sort of a facing for buttons and buttonholes and will lose some of the ease across the front making the dress tighter. And the fabric will also need to be turned under if you insert a zip again making it tight across the bust. Laces and eyelets might work but I still think you will spoil the appearance of the garment.

you could do a zipper if you had a nice contrasting piece of fabric and zipper you wanted on show down the front.

if you wante the dress a bit shorter you could put a horizontal zipper under a small pannel.

only other alternative would be to add some similar on nicely contrasting fabric as a pannel or two that tie up in the front or cross over maybee then pey som big slits under this and neatlen the edges.
