I'm knitting a cardigan to wear over a dress for a wedding on saturday and the pattern instructs to cast off in pattern and I'm having a nightmare trying to make it work. The pattern is:

P2 yon, s1, k1, psso, P2 rep from to end

It wasn't a problem during the actual body of the knitting but when I come to do the cast off I'm not sure how to go about it. I P2, put one stitch over the other, then yon but then if I put the stitch over the yon, i've cast off my live stitch and then if I s1 and put the yon over that, my yarn is left behind. I'm really tempted to just cast it off in a 2x2 rib (pattern for every other row).

Can anyone make sense of this or am I being particularly stupid tonight? Confused

Agree, just cast it off in the 2x2 rib. The seam will hide it up mostly.

If you do want to cast off on the patt row just complete each patt element (yon, s1, k1, psso) before casting that stitch off the RH needle

hth and you have a great day
