What paint?

I want to make my children some playmats with scenes painted onto them. I was planning on using some white pvc tablecloth stuff. What paint should I use?

I would imagine some sort of gloss to make it more hard wearing and waterproof, but I am not sure if this would crack with use on a pliable material such as PVC.

Sorry, hopefully someone else will have a bit more knowledge!

Acrylic would be waterproof, but not bendable I imagine.

My mum's just suggested plain old permanent marker pens. That'll be great for drawing, but if I do any colouring in, I imagine it'll look a bit shit!

Any other ideas?

I collect nail-polishes when cheap/special offer to use on certain fabrics, and think they would be a practical alternative.

Acrylic paint would peel off :)
Hmm - gloss/satin might do it.
Or fabric paint??

If you decide to laminate card instead, make sure you leave a border of laminated plastic around the card, otherwise moisture can seep in between the layers. Might sound obvious, but I've seen other teachers laminate then cut out shapes afterwards, only for all the layers to separate again!
