hi all, well last night i went to have cvs test done as my chances of T21 came back 1/32 afta combined test. I was really lucky to have a nice doc, who was really reassuring, I asked why my chances had dropped so dramatically over the last 48hrs, and appart frm 1 soft marker (tricuspid regurgitation) My bloods had come back bad. one of them was fine but a certain hormone was at 5. ? which apparantly is bad! as they were lookin for 1. I now have to wait all wkend! and might not get results till tues!
The procedure itself was ok. Apart frm they made me drink 4 cups of water to fill my bladder and then told me it was too full, and askd me 2 go for a pee but only a little bit! Beleive me that was hard! lol. Afterwards was painfull and my blood pressure dropped so quick I went deaf! my OH was tlkin to me but i couldnt hear him, i panicked, but am ok now and just a little sore physically. But emotionally im a wreck! I cannot help but think Im guna be that 1 out of 32! Pls, if anyone has had a cvs/ammo tell me how they coped with the wait???? and if they dont mind wot thier results were.
Would appreciate all comments. thanx xx

Hi Zara,

So sorry you are having to go through this, i just wanted to say i will keep my fingers crossed for good results for you. I had a CVS after odds of 1:2 (but in reality they 90% sure of a chromosome abnormality)so in a way the wait was not so bad as i knew it was very unlikley i would get a good outcome.

Your odds however bad they may seem are still very much stacked in your favour - i know it will be hard but keep busy and try and stay positive. Let us know how you get on. Lots of love to you and your family.

Hi Zara,
I had found it very difficult specially as my husband was in Africa on businss trip during my CVS. My changes were 1:21 and unfortunately I was the one . It was terrible. We decided to have a termination.

Then my second pregnancy showed a change of 1:17 which was even worser. I was distraught!! If it happens once to you, you never take anyting for granted!!! So again, I had to wait but i was not holding out any hope . Fortunately and to our VERY great delight all was ok!!!

I went through quite a bit in my life... but waiting for those results was very very difficult... for me it was.

I wish you luck. Your chances are quite good!

thanks for ur support lady's, im very sorry to here of ur ordeal jaa, and of course very happy that your second turned out to be fine. I am a pessimist by nature, but hearing ur 1:17 came back good news, i am a tiny bit more optimistic. i'll keep u posted and once again thanks xxxx

Hi Zara,

I know it's an awful wait - we had 1 in 2 chance of T21 due to slight raise in NF but mostly due to my bloods. I was absolutely convinced our baby would be the one - he wasn't, he's absolutely fine, 12 weeks old and snoring in his pram beside me.

Your chances are a lot better... try to keep sane during the wait!

I wish you lots of luck and strength.

Hi Zara,
So sorry you are going through this - we had this happen a few weeks ago. We were given a 1 in 30 chance of the baby having T21, but this was along with other soft markers ie no nasal bone, slightly increased nuchal fold measurement (3mm), and the heart defect you mentioned.
Do you know whether your baby has a nasal bone? Apparently if they do then there is a strong chance that it will be okay...
Unfortunately our story doesn't have a happy ending and we decided to terminate. I really hope this is not the case for you. When we were going through this I read loads of information/posts from other people and we took heart in the fact that a lot of them had a higher risk than us and yet their babies were fine.
Even with your odds you have a good chance of everything being okay and I hope it is. Please let us know how you get on won't you.

hi all. my results should be here 2moro or tues, and ive made the choice to go 2 work b-cos i cant stand doing nothing anymore! My mind is still all over the place and one min. im being positive and imagining evrythings going 2 be fine, then im back where i started and crying my eyes out b-cos im convinced its me!
in reply to you amioraminot yes my baby does have nasal bone. It was also my bloods that let me down the PAPP blood was normal at 1. something but the MOM blood was at 5. something and thats really high! I just dont know what to think anymore, the reason im so down is def. the way my odds went from 1 in 1048 to 1 in 111 to 1 in 32! all in a matter of 24hrs!!!! I just keep thinking they've gone down so dramatically so fast that there has to be something wrong!
Anyway will keep u all informed once again thanks for your support! xxxx
