cordoid plexus cyst+2 vessel cord+small fetus=Trisomy 18,21,etc?

Ladies, I am absolutely devasted. My 21 week anomaly scan showed a 2 vessel cord and small for dates fetus. A week later I had another detailed scan with my consultant and in addition to those, he also found a bilateral cordoid plexus cyst. All those are soft markers for genetic disorders ( no other abnormalities detected at this stage). He recommends amnio.I am absolutely terrified of what I might find out as well as the risk of losing the baby and the whole procedure itself. If it turned out positive I really woudnt know what to do. I just don't see myself terminating at this late stage...
Has anyone been in the same situation as me?
How did it turn out for you?

P.S just looked at my title and spelling : not cordoid, but CHOROID plexus cyst !

Oh you poor person to have to go through this trauma and waiting. I do not know about those markers in particular am sorry. But I do know that there is a chance everything will be okay - and you will not know for sure until the amnio is done. Are you for sure having one?
I am sure someone will be along soon here with more experience of this particular sitation - women who have continued with pregnancies when given diagnosis, women who have not and women who have had these markers and the baby was fine. I hope it is the latter.

The wait is horrible. Poor you. My daughter had a two-vessel umbilical cord and was allegedly small for dates with suspected placental insufficiency. She was 8 lb at birth, and her only 'health problem' is her over-hearty appetite.

These are 'soft' markers, as you know. We were told that around 1% of all babies probably have a two-vessel cord, even without any problem with the baby.

I am really sorry you're going through this stress. I have no knowledge of those markers, but I do have experience of a devastating anomaly scan (mine showed a condition incompatible with life) and my heart goes out to you.

plexus cysts are very common and usually resolve themselves.

Trisomy 18 means Edwards Syndrome. This is what we thought our DC3 was going to have.

You do have options but you need to think about what you will do with the info.

I don't see the need to find out for sure before the birth as it can cause unnecessary worry.

Having an amnio can give you peace of mind but it could also cause you to lose a heathy baby.

You need to talk to the baby's father and work out exactly what is on your mind.

Whatever the result s/he is still your baby.

plexus cysts are very common, and go on there own. i to had a two cord vessel with dd shes two now i refused all tests as i wanted her no matter what but the waiting was horrible she was born tiny 5lb 8oz at term but other wise ok. my dd as some illness but they dont think its to do with the cords!
