Renal pelvis dilated

Hi,

Went for a growth scan yesterday (I’m 35 weeks) & the right kidney is dilated (renal pelvis dilation), the measurement was 11mm. Amniotic fluid, bladder, growth & doppler studies were all normal.

I had a growth scan only 3 weeks ago & there was no mention of anything like that then so assuming everything was ok on that. Having a baby boy.

Has anyone had this before? So worried!

Thanks.

My DS had this, picked up at 20 week scan. As a result I had 4 further scans to see if it resolved ( which it often does) but it didn’t. Born at full term. Doctors wanted to check he could pass water after birth, which took him over 24 hours to do, but after that he seemed to be weeing regularly. He had follow up tests at around 6 months which involved injecting a substance into his body to trace it was being metabolised by his kidneys properly, which it was. He is now a strapping 20 year old man!
i remember worrying so much all through my pregnancy so completely understand how you feel. I understand it is one of the more common issues that can be picked up and I also know someone else who also had this picked up at scan and also had a completely healthy baby. Hopefully your midwife can reassure you a little bit and answer any questions.
Please try to enjoy the rest of your pregnancy and don’t stress too much, easier said than done I know. Xx
