I'm here stressed out. My first trimester screening results came as high risk for DS (1:70) Please advise is there anyone who had elevated hcg Mom above 5 but had a low risk NIPT results or a baby without Down syndrome? I'm so nervous. Currently waiting for my nipt test results, please share your stories here I really could use some words of encouragement at this moment.
More information about me below: Age 34 but will be 35 +3 when I give birth
Hcg Mom 5.16 PAPP-A MOM 0.85
NT: 1.76
History : I have an 8 year old, she does not have any chromosome abnormalities
Looking forward to all your comments 💕

Hi, I don’t have any advise, but I’m in the same situation. I’m 34, have a healthy 5 year old and I’m have been given a 1/41 chance of Down syndrome. I am so scared to and have been roaming the internet for answers. All I know is my nt was 2.1, years everything looked fine at the scan. I’m assuming my hcg was high but I have hyper emesis and had it in my last pregnancy, so I’m hoping that screwed my results. My papp-a was 0.47, days high concerns me.

I have my ntip test today to give me an idea of what’s going on. I’ll keep the baby either way, but it’s just all going to be so much more difficult and I obviously want my child to be as healthy as possible.

keep me updated with how everything goes your end!

Hi, i am so sorry for late response, i see you needed some information on what to expect on your nipt test, but hopefully it went smooth as it's just only blood draw, it's invasive

I'm crossing fingers for both of us to get good results 🙏i have a history of mental health issues (depression and anxiety) so raising a special needs child would be very difficult for me i might even relapse, I'm already not coping well waiting for the results. It's been such a difficult and stressful time for me, my husband is supportive and he believes we will get good results I'm trying my best to keep the faith as well.

All the best to and other mommies who are going through Same thing as us. Please keep me posted when you get your results ❤️

Do you have any idea of what your beta hcg mom was? I'm glad your NT looks normal, i guess for now we can both hold on to that, i know nt doesn't guarantee anything but being hopeful in this situation is the least we can do. Mayb your low PAPPA-A might have something to do with placenta issues. Let's stay hopeful that we get cleared from all chromosome issues

Awww so happy for you!!!

Thank you, now I'm crossing fingers for you as well and considering your nt number you have high chances of receiving a great nipt report as well because high hcg and low PAPPA-A doesn't always mean down syndrome

I have decided to Not do any further testing after receiving my nipt i do not want to stress myself anymore i will let God be in control now.

Please update after receiving your results, our stories can help others in future.

Hi, I have had the results back as low risk. Honestly, I am so thankful, I tried to prepare myself for a sweet DS child, just in case. I’m very thankful. I’m the same, I won’t be doing any further testing either. Realised that if I had another child, I wouldn’t do any screening, because it wouldn’t matter to me either way and it just caused a lot of stress tbh.

pray you and baby are doing well!

💃💃💃So happy for your great results, Deep down i knew your results will return as low risk because these screening just produce lots of false high risk, yes it's best not to do these tests anymore especially if you know you won't terminate unless you go straight to nipt or amniocentesis in future just to better prepare yourself it's okay but this first trimester screening i don't want to ever see myself doing it again.

At some point before my results i was also preparing myself for DS child, i searched a lot on DS and even joined a group so that i could learn more but I'm grateful that now i no longer have to go through all that. Now we can relax and enjoy our pregnancies.
